Colt Diamondback .22LR, 6" blue with handmade Fuzzy grips. 1972
CALIFORNIA LEGAL
The revolver is in excellent condition without a mark on it: check the photos.
What makes this gun particularly special is the set of handcrafted grips made by ‘Fuzzy’ (Theodore) Farrant. Fuzzy was a policeman in the late 50s through the early 70s (the dates might be bit ‘fuzzy’ but are approximately true) working as a firearms instructor for LAPD. Guy Hogue, Walter Stark and John Hurst —they were all LADP pistol teams members and all made grips.
This particular pair of grips (walnut?) on the Diamondback is a fine example of Fuzzy’s work. The workmanship around the fit, the transition of the swells and finger grips is so natural as to look effortless. As soon as you pick up the gun you can feel the difference in how the gun handles and why they all worked so hard to change how grips were designed.
