#4832 Colt Model 1883 “Hammerless” Double Barrel shotgun, 30”x12gauge. Fine bright bores, about a 8-1/2 to 9 on a scale of 10 and will clean even better, tight action. Manufactured circa 1885 with only 7,366 produced between 1883-1895. While this is probably just the standard “Field Grade”, the 1883 Colt is argumentively one of the two finest made shotguns of the entire American Arms trade. This specimen has fine metal, wood, markings, bores, and retains 90% of the fancy Damascus pattern on the barrels. The center barrel rib should be re-soldered if this were to be used, as it looks like it may be getting loose back near the breach area, but other than that it is a VERY handsome old shotgun and one that is not often found for sale. If it just had a little more finish, it would be “Fine to Extra Fine”, but just having good traces, it is more honestly rated as VG++. $1295
