#4829 J.H.Johnston, Pittsburg PA. marked percussion double barreled shotgun, 10guage, I think. Fine smooth brown patina with nicely done sparse engraving and what looks to be platinum banded barrels and platinum blow-out plugs. VG wood with just modest wear, bumps and bruises. The most serious item that will affect the value is that one hammer is a well done replacement. It matches near perfectly, works well and strikes the nipple, but does not have ANY engraving like the original hammer on the other side. It is also missing one of the ramrod thimbles and the wooden ramrod itself is a replacement. Just a very nice good quality scattergun from the mid-1860s. VG as described. $345
