Visit Our Website Description: Original Sons Of Veterans Kepi, A large size kepi in very good condition. It still has the gold tone wreath encircling the SV. The kepi is intact with no loose or missing stitching. There is a moth chew on the back of the band, but will display very well. The gold tone buttons on the Kepi are marked on the back "A. P. Davis Pittsburgh PA Pat. Nov. 20th 1888". The original owners name is written in the crown, but I can not make it out. A rare collectors item and would be a great compliment to any Militarily collection. There were two distinct groups within the Sons of Veterans organization. One was the larger fraternal membership who assisted the GAR with their meetings and this was largely a social group. There was also a smaller armed SV militia that was organized as militia units, held rank, and participated in military preparedness drills and training. These SV militia units were actually scheduled to fight in the Spanish American War but since the US won the war so quickly, they never were shipped overseas to combat. PAYMENT Cash, postal money order, cashiers check, personal & business checks. May order at riverjucntion on-line with credit card. SOLD |
