Description:
Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight .264 Win. Magnum. 22" barrel. S/N 556957 Mfg. 1962. Correct, factory ventilated pad as installed on all 264 fwts. Original blue is in very good shape with a few spots of flaking on receiver, a tiny scratch on floor plate, and slight thinning near muzzle. The original wood finish is also in very good condition with just a few very light scratches/dings. The barrel channel does appear to have had some wood relief in an effort to "free float" the barrel. Additionally, there does not appear to be a serial # etched onto the bolt body. However, there is absolutely no indication of it ever having been scrubbed or ground off, just the usual light cycling wear and nothing else. I have observed missing bolt serial #s on several other late model pre 64 70s over the years that were built toward the end of production, such as this one. All mechanical functions and bore condition are excellent. The scope is like new with a duplex type reticle. Overall, a nice clean rifle that should make a great flat shooting hunter.
