Engraved British Self-Defense Pistol
Here we present an antique Engraved English Boxlock Swivel Barrel Percussion Pistol, made circa 1850 in England. This is an interesting design for a percussion pistol as it has a double barrel, each with its own nipple, but only one hammer. The barrels swivel for the next shot. The barrels are also of a turn-off variety which was common during this time period. This feature enabled the user to use a larger projectile, which provided a better gas seal than a muzzle loading alternative. The trigger is also of a folding variety, which drops when the hammer is cocked. Overall, this pistol was packed with great carry features for its time, and perhaps surpassed other designs just by virtue of its having two barrels instead of the more common single.

Bore is smooth, but has grooves to aid in the turn off of the barrels. All parts are mechanically functional.
