Description: 22" tapered round, lugged barrel with hooded ramp front sight and flip-up twilight bead, full-band swivel base, 1 standing and 2 folding island-mounted express sights marked for 100, 200 & 300 yards. Stocked with fully-figured Bastogne Walnut, including ebony forend tip, classic borderless point-pattern checkering (wrapping fully under the forend), barrel tie-down, discreet glassbedding, steel skeleton pistol grip cap (checkered within), beaded cheekpiece, inletted rear swivel stud and black Decelerator recoil pad. Mauser 98 action with jeweled bolt and follower, 3-panel checkered bolt knob, custom top tang safety, Canjar trigger, and hinged straddle floorplate with release inside triggerguard. Floral scroll engraved bottom metal and with cape buffalo head on floorplate. Leupold M8-3x scope on Kimber quick-detachable mounts. Weight: 9lbs, 6oz. Pull: 14 1/4". Built 1980 for Fred Barnes in conjunction with his development of the cartridge---.458 Winchester, necked down to .404 calibre. Described in both Ackley & Donnelly.
