Here we present an antique Civil War Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 Old Army Revolver, made from 1861-1874 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Only about 35,000 of the 77,000 produced were made during the American Civil War, and this one is in the 10,000s! Among the many officers and enlisted men that purchased these on their own to take along to the fight, General George Armstrong Custer was one of those who loved these pistols and owned a pair.
This pistol has an early serial number and almost certainly saw fighting on the smoky battlefields of the American Civil War. It may have also seen the vast, wide open expanses of the West as all manner of people migrated that way to seek their fortunes. S&W have always produced a quality firearm and this is no exception. The machining, fit and finish are all excellent.
This fantastic piece comes with a single .32 rimfire long cartridge for display.
