Description:
A special gun for Greener collectors, this W. Wellington gun bearing the 61 Loveday St Birmingham address was in fact made by William Wellington Greener at the same address and this is confirmed in writing by Graham Greener. Apparently, WW used this name for some guns made for export in the very early years of the firm. Very few sidelevers were made by Greener. This rare specimen is very well-preserved, the action now has minor flaking. Screws are v. good and still timed! Bbls are sturdy 2.5" x 26" twist with brazed! game rib, are firmly on face, but have almost certainly been shortened and honed as the bores now measure circa .755 each side cyl/cyl (as proofed this gun had no chokes) with vestiges of pitting remaining. Walls are still good given stout dimensions of bbls. Recent rebrown shows off the unusual tiger-stripe damascus pattern. Forend is sound, original and fits well. Buttstock may be an older replacement of American walnut, 14 3/4" pull thru original spurred steel plate.
