Dale Goens Custom Pre-64 Model 70, .257 Ackley Imp., 25" barrel, 9 lbs 2 oz. (with scope), 13 1/2" LOP over a Niedner checkered steel butt plate, early pre-64 Winchester 70 action with 3 position safety with 4-panel checkered bolt knob and jeweled bolt and follower, checkered bolt release, highly figured Circassian walnut that Dale imported from Russia himself, 22 LPI fleur-de-lis checkering and ebony forend tip, steel grip cap, with Weaver 6x scope. Excellent little used condition with some minor handling marks. Dale of course, was one of the founders of the Custom Gunmaker's Guild and built this rifle in the early 1980's. Dale's name and stock number are stamped as pictured on the action flat area inside the stock. This rifle was originally built by Dale for renown knife-maker Robert Papp. One can shoot either factory .257 Roberts or handload the .257 Ackley Improved and achieve near .25-06 performance. A fine hunting or collector rifle.
