Westley Richards Droplock Gold Name, circa 1903 displaying the Westley Richards patent no. 17731 of 1897 with patent use no. 500 making it the 500th droplock made, 6 lbs. 4 oz.. 12 bore, ejectors, 2 3/4" chambers with reproof for 70mm (2 3/4" proof) in 2012, original 30" fluid steel barrels choked .014 Lt. Mod. and .034 Full, nicelly figured stock at 1 3/8" DAC, 1 3/4" DAH, 1/4" cast off, 14" LOP over original horn butt plate, double triggers, straight grip, splinter forend with a horn tip inlayed, early full removable droplock rounded action with scalloped back and "Westley Richards" in gold on both sides of action and "Westley Richards, Ejector" on top of action, long bar beetle back automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold, dolls head rib extension 3rd bite, concave game rib engraved "Westley Richards 178 New Bond St. London", Westley patent top lever, gold stock oval with initials "H.H." engraved, typical Westley "Deeley-Edge" forend release. Reproved at 18.7 (.736) and 18.8 (.740) bore diameters and both measure the same today, min. wall thickness .020 and .026. Excellent condition without issue and with all original components and well maintained. A nice early and affordable droplock that if more length is needed, could easily have up to 3/4" added with a leather pad.
