SIMPLY THE FINEST No. 1 ROLLING BLOCK SPORTER I'VE SEEN OR EVER ADVERTISED! THIS IS A STANDARD .40-70 BN SPORTING RIFLE WITH FACTORY 26" OCTAGON BARREL OF MEDIUM WEIGHT, matching serial numbers in the 5XXX range (probably late 1870s production), sharp markings on the receiver side, perfect bright bore, VIVID CASE COLORS ON THE RECEIVER AND FOREND TIP and even has good color on the butt plate! Deep barrel blue with only a few minor areas of thinning, original small Remington style buckhorn rear sight with Remington short blade front sight, exc.+ wood with some extra grade of grain to the walnut, retains about all the blue on the hammer and breechblock, correct Remington crown on the muzzle, correct caliber stamping on the bottom of the barrel, occasionally a target model will be found in this condition or perhaps one in a small caliber, but this is the finest big caliber sporter I've seen, would be nearly impossible to improve upon. If you want the absolute best, this is it, superb investment piece!
