IMPERIAL GERMAN WEYERSBERG OLD MODEL INFANTRY OR CAVALRY OFFICERS' SWORD & SCABBARD, CIRCA MID 18TH CENTURY. Has Wurttemberg "Crown/W" proof on back of 32 1/4" fullered plain blade. Weyersberg "King" (in profile) proof on ricasso with "Crown/ D" opposite. Beautiful unsharpened blade with original polish marks and straight as an arrow. Typical German steel incomparable in construction. Brass basket hilt with simple line border engraving and plain floral relief sprays going up back toward pommel. Original leather washer. Original horn contoured grip with no losses except dbl strand grip wrap wire which is missing save one flute worth. Nothing but 100+ years patina on brass hilt would be a shame to clean up. Nice and tight and does NOT rattle. Original steel scabbard with two rings and original black paint excellent. Wish they were worth more for this kind of old world craftsmanship but will make a nice addition to any collection.
