Description:
This bayonet measures 19” overall with an 15 13/16” angular blade having hollow-ground back flutes and single, 9 1/4”, unstopped fuller with “US/TA” marked ricasso. The steel has an overall dark plum-brown freckling throughout, with some small areas of pewter gray as well, mostly along the back flutes and socket. A period leather scabbard is included that has a heavily crazed leather body with heavy flaking at the tip, and at the throat. There is a short remnant of what used to be a belt loop as well. This is a very good example of an early 19th century American bayonet, and would make a nice addition to any collection.
