CZ 38, Nazi code, P-39, Caliber .380 ACP, Serial Number 2599XX.
These are a rather scarce breed. The gun was already in production when Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia. Production continued with the bulk of the output going to the Wehrmacht, various Nazi police and home guard units.
There were also shipments to Bulgaria and Finland. Finland was not part of the AXIS but was a co-belligerent against the Russians. Also, according to records, 1000 were delivered to the Luftwaffe.
This gun is in exceptional condition retaining at least 96-97% of the original high polish factory finish. The bulk of the loss is the usual sharp edge silvering, muzzle wear and pin pricks. But even very little of those. The front grip strap shows no evidence of graying.
The slide and frame match.
The brown Bakelite grips are have no splits or chips, but do have a few flattened points on the bottom of the right panel. The grip screws are unmarred. The bolt face and the feed ramp are very clean, giving evidence of little use. The bore is super bright with sharp rifling, without even a hint of graying, again showing no real use.
These Nazi P-39s are surprisingly scarce, particularly in this condition and quite under-priced in the current collector's market. $695.
