This is a splendid B.S.A.-made rifle that was regulated by the famous G.E. Fulton firm (still in operation today as Fulton of Bisley) for match shooting, and is so stamped on the knox form. The barrel retains 90-95% of the original commercial quality blue that has silvered at the muzzle (where it looks like a metal muzzle cover was once used) that fades slightly to a plum-blue along the top, most noticeably along the “EXTRA SUPERIOR NICKEL STEEL” marking along the top. The receiver has an “H0487” service rifle number (to indicate that the rifle was built to military specifications for match purposes), and retains a commensurate amount of the original blue while the bolt dust cover has a series of freckled areas that partially obscure the engraved “G.E. Fulton Bisley” marking in large Gothic letters. The original tangent rear sight is still present, but the slider has been removed and a BSA No. 9 folding rear sight with adjustable aperture has been installed on the left side of the wrist. The walnut stock and handguard are in excellent condition with only minor handling marks and blemishes, mostly on either side of the receiver, marring the otherwise beautiful original oil finish. The rifle comes with a single ten round magazine and a period brown leather sling that has dried slightly over time, but remains fully serviceable. This is a spectacular Long Lee target and competition rifle, regulated and accurized by one of the most storied names in the annals of the Bisley Matches. It would make a fantastic addition to any collection. {Ref. “The Lee-Enfield A Century of Lee-Metford & Lee-Enfield Rifles & Carbines” by Ian Skennerton; 2007} FFL or C&R SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: Enfield Model: Long Lee Serial Number: 32266 Caliber Info: .303 Gauge Info: .303 |
