Antique Remington New Model Army Revolver

Civil War Production With Dated Inscription!

Here we present an antique Civil War Remington New Model Army Revolver. The Remington New Model was Colt’s biggest competition for military contracts during the American Civil War. This pistol saw continued use for the next 20 years, especially famously in the American West. The pistol saw action in the Indian Wars and on buffalo hunts, and was used by such legends as William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody, who said about the New Model “It never failed me.”

Indeed the Remington New Model Army was a well-made firearm, and rightly made for stiff competition against Colt. This example is no exception. The action is excellent. The Remington barrel marking is very clear and the serial number is low. Inspector’s marks are found all over. This is a military inspected gun, but the cartouche is barely made out on the left grip.
On the interior of the left grip panel, there is an inscription by hand that reads “Upenshaw/1866”. There is no doubt that the right collector-historian could search the annals of time to find out more about this person and bring greater value to this fantastic firearm.

Serial number is 12584, identifying this as Civil War production. The New Model was made from 1863-75 with a total of about 122,000, making this an earlier example and one produced during the American Civil War.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
