The Winchester 1886 was designed by John Browning to handle the buffalo cartridges of the day. Chambered in 45-70 Government just as the original rifle was, this is a serious big-bore lever gun. The color case hardening on the receiver, lever, fore-arm cap, and crescent buttplate contrast with the deep blued octagon barrel and high grade walnut stock to make this a truly beautiful rifle.
