Description:
Everything about this 1941 Colt is correct and original in all details. The slide has the serial number stamped on the rear underneath the hammer spring retainer.  This matches the serial number on the frame, 750810. All of the appropriate factory armorers stamps and marks are present.  The gun has not been modified in any way since it left the factory in Hartford, close to 75 years ago. The original finish of this gun is excellent, with only one small scratch and very little surface wear, and rates about 98%.
The details: This gun has been disassembled, inspected and thoroughly cleaned by a qualified gunsmith.  All parts are functional and original, and in excellent condition.  The barrel is average, with rifling acceptable for the age of the gun. The gun has been test-fired and found to be safe for operation. Collectors of this type of Colt 45 are always concerned about minor imperfections and/or alterations from the original.  This gun has only a couple of imperfections, which are extremely minor.  All the expected proof marks from the Colt factory are where they should be, and collectors know what to look for and what they mean.  There are many sources of info about which marks mean what, if you are interested.
One magazine is included.  This has “Colt 45 Auto” stamped on the base plate of the magazine.  This would indicate that it very likely came with the gun from the factory.  To a collector, that might be significant.
There is an additional piece being offered with the gun: A nearly complete original leather shoulder holster rig, as it would have been issued perhaps to a WWII aviator, along with his sidearm.  I would prefer to sell all of this together as a package: the gun, magazines, and shoulder holster. . . .but I will entertain questions/offers.

More info regarding the provenance of the gun is available. This fine pistol is an excellent specimen of a disappearing number of Colt guns from the period.  It will be a fine addition to any Colt collection.
