GOSS’S ENGRAVED COLT SUPER 38 PISTOL CIRCA 1934. Customized and engraved Pre War Colt Super 38 shipped to Wolf & Klar, Fort Worth, Texas on August 3, 1934 owned by Ranger Bob Goss known as the “Deadliest Gun In The Texas Rangers” and partner of legendary Ranger Lone Wolf Gonzaullas. Both were famous lawmen in the wild and wooly era of the Texas Oil Boom and veterans of long service along the Texas-Mexico border. Custom floral engraved with interesting panel engraving of the Red River Toll Bridge at Denison, Texas to the rear of the left side of the slide in commemoration of Rangers Goss and Gonzaullas’s role in winning the famous Bridge War between Texas and Oklahoma in 1931. The front grip strap is additionally engraved in fine monogram script “R/G/G”. Stag grips, custom cut-away trigger guard, double sided safety (right side now removed) as well as King adjustable rear and reflector front sights were added special features selected by Bob Goss who was a serious gun enthusiast. Accompanying the gun is a Colt Factory letter and a large amount of documentation including a notarized affidavit of descent from the sister of Edgar Jenkins, a Texas Peace Officer friend of Bob Goss who bought the gun from his estate after his death. Much of the additional documentation and copies of Goss’s Texas Ranger Service records were provided by the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum. Also included are copies of articles on Goss and photos of him during and after his years as a Ranger.
