ONE OF THE EARLIEST NEW SERVICE REVOLVERS I'VE SEEN! THIS ONE IS A .44-40 CALIBER, 7 1/2" BARREL WITH SERIAL NUMBER 1XXX, MADE 1899! All the correct early markings including the last patent date of  1884 (the next patent date used was 1900- so very few have the 1884 date only), simply marked on the sided of the barrel "NEW SERVICE .44 CAL" which is correct, unaltered front sight, has the early rampant colt with circular COLT NEW SERVICE lettering around it, hard rubber grips show the lightest of wear and are numbered to the gun, unaltered front sight, fine deep high early high polish Colt blue overall with wear to the wear to the front strap and back strap (gray) and some holster wear on the left side of the barrel, also has some normal holster/edge wear but retains nice need blue with fire blue in the trigger sides, retains some good case color on the hammer, swivel in butt intact, exc. blue on butt, tight action and bright exc. bore! Especially nice for such an early pre-20th century example!
