It is built on an MRC 1999 PH 505 action, a strong, straight-grained stock blank, NECG express sights, quarter rib, barrel band, steel grip cap, NECG red recoil pad, Rosewood forend tip, dual crossbolts, and other features. After 16 safaris in Africa, I want to reduce the number of big-bore rifles I own. ' This particular rifle has never been fired beyond the completion of its build. The LOP is currently the industry standard 13 1/2", but could be adjusted with a different pad and trigger setting. The bare rifle weighs 9.4 lbs, so about 11 pounds scoped, loaded, and ready to hunt. Although one can load the 505 Gibbs up to the 2,400 fps level with a 535gr bullet, I find that using the case's capacity to drive a 600gr bullet at about 2,150-2,200 fps increases the momentum and greatly reduces the recoil. I also have an accumulation of ammunition and components for the 505 Gibbs...new CH4D dies and shellholder, 76 loaded rounds, 40-some brass cases, and a partial box of 600gr Northfork solids. Similar rifle also available in 458 Lott. SOLD |
