Some blue remains in spots, back strap, color case on frame is thin but there, 8" barrel is bright and shinny with scattered pits (dark areas) overall finish as turned a rather nice brown patina. All numbers match including the barrel wedge and grips! Original varnish on grips with 1 small chip at the bottom. A 4 screw gun and cut for the shoulder stock, 98% cylinder scene with the "S" stamp and the word "PATENTED 1850 is spelled out. Cylinder is clean and you can see through the nipples. Gun is a very honest piece, NO COLD BLUE, unpolished all over,no touch ups and no RUST! You would spend considerable more than the asking price to upgrade this gun! COMPARE with other listings at $4000 PLUS! 4 Digit guns are very hard to come by especially in this untouched unmolested condition! I will EXTEND the inspection days to 5 to make sure you can check this gun out properly.The sub inspector marks on the gun are "S" for Saunders, "K" behind the hammer for Andrew King also the left grip cartouce is signed : "ADK" for Andrew D. King and very readable.From what I can find he only inspected about 150 revolvers??.
