Description:
Parker Brothers Lifter Action, Hammer Gun, Damascus Barrels 10 Gauge. 30" Damascus barrels, chokes unknown (we have no tool for 10 ga.). A D (3) grade or higher gun with lots of scroll engraving and two game scene panels on each side-plate, game scene on trigger guard and a deer on the bottom of receiver. Engraving on top of the receiver and bolsters. Boarder engraving on the forend hardware and extended trigger guard. And engraving to all of the original screws. The checkered, straight grip butt stock has a skeleton butt plate. Please Note: The Parker Gun Indentification & Serialization book by Charles E. Price & S.P. Fjestad on page 4746 for Serial Number 4559, shows a D grade gun. However after reviewing numberous D grade Lifter guns on the internet, the engraving on our Parker has substancially more engraving and game scenes, not nearly as much as the highest grades but definitely more than D grade Lifter guns listed on the internet. Condition: Barrel to action fit is loose, hammer screws incorrect, left hammer is a replacement, right hammer look's correct, patina to all metal finished. The protected forend iron has some great remaining case colors. There are rust spots on the exterior of the barrel, with most on the right barrel. There are several dings on outside of the barrels and the bores have light corrosion throughout. Wood: The stocks have scratches and dings and there are three short cracks. One at the rear of of the left side plate, one at the rear of the top tang and the last is where the pointed tip of the skeleton butt-plate comes in contact with the heal of the butt stock. There is an silver initial plate tacked to the top of the stock near the receiver, which is missing one of the silver tacks). The checkering is very worn on both the butt-stock and the forend. All serial numbers match, receiver, barrels, forend iron and forend wood. Serial Number: 4559, dates to 1875.
