Winchester Model 42 .410 pump action shotgun. Circa 1959 this model 42 is a two-barrel set. Set one is a 26” SKEET with Simmons vent rib and the iron is numbered correctly to the action. Set two is identical to set one except it is 28” full choke, and again the extension is correctly numbered to the receiver. See photographs for same numbering. The buttstock appears original Winchester straight grip but a 1” vented pad was added and the original butt plate comes with the gun; LOP is 14 5/8” over the pad. Both forearms look to be Winchester except the forearm on the 28” barrels has a satin finish.
My guess is that this was a factory two-barrel set that either had solid ribs or plain barrels then the vent ribs were added and the subsequent refinish of the metal by Simmons. 98%+ metal since refurbishing.
This 42 functions flawlessly with both barrel assemblies and it really is a nice looking and nice a shooting 42.
