Swedish Mauser M96
Find for sale this very fine Swedish Mauser M96 manufactured by Carl Gustaf's Stads Gavarsfaktori. in 1900. This rifle bears serial # 75489, with matching numbers and Swedish crown proof marks in 4 bolt assembly locations as well as the on butt plate, trigger housing, floor plate, bolt release lever, upper and lower bands. Rear sight assembly is marked 635 and is the only number not matching on the rifle. The rifle is of course chambered in 6.5x55 Swede and has a 29" barrel. It has an excellent shiny bore, crisp rifling, next best thing to perfect bore. This rifle is from a long time collector and friend of mine and this rifle just flat out shoots. He claims it is, and has been his most accurate military surplus rifle he has owned. The rifle exhibits the typical excellent fit and finish found on the turn-of-the-century Mausers, and as an added bonus retains easily approx. 80% original metal finish. The original walnut stock retains all of its original factory finish and has nice figure and color throughout. I particularly like and admire the vivid fire blued rear sight spring and bolt release. There is an import mark on the barrel lower right hand side on the fore section. My client is liquidating a rather large collection of various Mil Surplus firearms and has decided to include the correct Swedish sling with brass and steel fittings. Additionally, so the rifle can be displayed well he is including the bayonet and scabbard.
