The head stamp indicates. F (i believe Frankfort Arsonnal) with 12, i would say was the month of production. What i have found on the history of these rounds is as followes. After Custer bought it at the Little Big Horn with his problems of stuck copper cases in the Springfield trapdoor carbines, the military tinned them so they would not stick in the chambers. They also added a collapsable ramrod in the butt stock after that fiasco to knock out stuck cases. These shells are in excellent condition but they are NOT in a original box. Made 13 years after the battle at the Little Big Horn. Remarkable, they have not been shot up! call for more info etc. Thanks for looking SOLD |
