Description:
SOLD..Antique Smith & Wesson 2nd model .38 single action. Here is a very nice little Smith & Wesson 2nd model. S/N 3258 and very early mFG. probaly first year. ALL matching numbers of course. Has the standard 3 1/4" barrel. In .38 S&W black powder. The barrel has 70% or more original speckled nickel finish. The frame has 70% including the front and rear grip straps and the cylinder has 70%. Just some very minor flaking and the balance is smooth patina that has never been cleaned on or messed with in any way. The photos looks like it has much more finish than this but under a bright light you can see where the finish is a bit cloudy.. Still a very nice gun.. Probably has more finish than I say but I never over describe any of my guns and some are better than described.. The hammer has traces of case coloring. The barrel latch and trigger retain most all of the bluing. The mechanics are excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun. NO play or wobble to the cylinder at all. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and the hinge. The bore is excellent bright and shiny with no pitting or roughness at all. The chambers are excellent and bright as well. The grips are excellent with no cracks or chips and still retain the fine checkering. All the screws and take down pins are excellent and un touched. Perfect front sight. All the markings are excellent. That is about all I can say about this one. Just a excellent little Smith for the higher end collector.
