Description:
This small gun is known as a Bicycle Rifle, as it was designed to be carried by cyclists and fired easily without dismounting. It dates from around the late 1890's, when an American cyclist out on the road could have a need for protection. Made by the J Stevens Company of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, as marked on the side of the 12" barrel. The gun is chambered in 22 caliber, and it features a removeable skeleton stock. The length without the skeleton stock is 15 1/2 inches, and the overall length is 25 1/2 inches. The original metal stock is serial numbered to the gun. Serial number 18044. Shows most of the original nickle on both gun & stock. Barrel retains nearly all of it's original blue. Action is in excellent condition and locks up tight.The bore is very nice with strong rifeling. A pretty nice Stevens compleate with a very nice wood case.
