EARLY CIVIL WAR L. G. & Y., WINDSOR, VT. CONTRACT MODEL 1861 RIFLE MUSKET DATED 1862. .58 caliber rifled 40”barrel dated 1862 and proofed at the breech. Lock plate dated 1862 as well and OF the earliest type with “EAGLE/U.S.” forward of the hammer. 100% original and complete including the ramrod. Fine plus to excellent with metal having a light handling patina and lock and hammer some of the original polish. Stock with the original finish and having two distinct Government Inspector’s cartouches. Nipple with most of the original blue. Lock in perfect working order and has a near mint bore.
