This is a Deluxe Engraved by Nimschke Colt Model 1862 Police Revolver with the 6 1/2" barrel. This is Nimschkes rarest pattern of engraving that you normally don't find on his pieces with this being the arabesque style. This piece is phenomenal regarding the Tiffany grips, The grips are gold plated cast in bronze. The gun like you normally see they were put away and kept pretty, this one to me is far more beautiful then one of those, this is one that someone actually shot some. (Probably to show off to his friends that he had something nicer then theirs). Every serial number matches it is 100% correct. The action works like new. I have only cocked it once and the cylinder lock up is superb as is the mechanics inside. The gun exhibits a beautiful look. The Tiffany grips are just absolutely gorgeous. They are beautiful with all kinds of patterns and engravings inside. The bottom of the grip has a just absolutely astonishing 3 dimensional Union Eagle that just makes this piece. The rear side of the grip has what is known as the "Missionary and Child" and sometimes "Justice". Normally when you find these guns the grips are fake, its a New York style you can't exactly pinpoint to Nimschke, Not only is this 100% correct Nimschke engraved, but in his rarest style, also with Tiffany grips, just to find a Colt with Tiffany grips that are correct is just so uncommon, but when you can find them in their rarest style which is the "Missionary and Child" its just almost unheard of. This is truly a historic piece and basically a "one of a kind". The kicker on this gun to show the correctness of it, it is on the front cover of the book "L.D. Nimschke Firearms Engraver" By R.L.Wilson. And is also pictured in the book to the exact serial number and described. It is also featured on page 292 of the Colt Engraving Book Volume One by R.L. Wilson, You will receive in this both books, plus the other Volume of the Colt Engraving book which are signed by the Author. 3 books will come and ship separately. This is truly one of the most important and famous 1862 Colt's out there. If you want a show piece or something nobody else will have, this is the one. This is truly a significant piece for a Colt collection and can be the center piece of one.
