This Winchester Model 1885 High Wall is in fine condition retaining approximately 65% of its case colors and 90% barrel blue is present on the #3 barrel. The bore is in great condition as well and would rate a solid 9. The caliber of this fine rifle is in 40-70 Ballard, only 339 of these in this caliber were ever manufactured. The action is great, the hammer has a nice tight snap to it. The factory letter confirms the caliber. The wood is in fine original shape. The wood has never been touched, never refinished, or anything. This rifle was once part of the famed Peter and Patty Murray Collection. This is truly one of the top examples of the 40-70 Ballard examples out there. It would be difficult to improve upon it. Serial number 76,079. Manufactured in 1896.
