Description:
This is a Deluxe Magnum Mauser double square bridge in .416 Rigby that was used to launch their re-introduction of the Magnum Mauser action and rifles. As their Launch Edition, it is extensively engraved with beautiful bullino game scenes and extensive scroll work on all its surfaces. The engraving features a full herd of dagga boy buffalo that completely cover the deep belly magazine plate and a beautifully rendered and very detailed elephant on the concealed trapdoor grip cap. Of course, the entire action receiver, as well as the open sight bases, muzzle and barrel breech are also tastefully scroll engraved. All the metal is finished in French grey to show off the engraving. Though beautiful to see, this rifle was made to work. It was "Shot and Regulated" by W J Jeffrey in London and fitted with a Zeiss Diavati 1.5 x 6 X 42 scope in quick detachable mounts. At the time of sale it was outfitted with a full length Jeffrey case and a complete set of accessories. The rifle itself, weighs a perfect 11 lbs with the scope and a wonderful 9 lbs 8 ozs without it. The stock length is 14 3/4" with a 1" solid pad. The barrel is 24" and the open sights have leaves for 50, 100 and 150 meters. The front sight has a folding "moon sight" This is an opportunity to purchase what is essentially a new rifle at well less than half of its original cost. This rifle was originally bought for £22,000 ($32,0000) plus VAT in London and shot just once at the range. The buyer then decided a .375 H&H suited him better and we we built one for him. At EWA this year the current version of this Mauser Deluxe 416 was priced at €32,000 ($35,500).
