Description:
Presented here is a really special pair of McKay Brown 12 bore game guns. They were started around 2001 as an Exhibition Pair and were shown in the UK and the United States for awhile before being bought by a collector who put them away and, as best as we can tell, never fired them. Unlike many of McKay Brown's more recent elaborate work, these deeply carved guns were engraved in the UK by Peter Cusack

The guns themselves weigh 6 lbs 12 oz and were proofed in 2003 for 2 3/4" cartridges. They have ejectors, 29" barrels and beautifully figured stocks that measure 15 1/8" X 1 3/8" X 2" to thin leather covered pads and zero cast. The barrels are perfect - just as they left the factory and all four guns are choked right and left at .012, equivalent to about a light half choke with today's plastic shotcup ammunition. Appropriately, they are cased in a lightweight tan colored motor case with a full complement of McKay Brown marked accessories and a dark brown canvas outer.

What's more to say? McKay Brown builds wonderful guns and certainly has been one of the most influential gunmakers in the past half century. Now, with the team all retiring, the chance of obtaining a new, unfired pair of guns like these is very unlikely. The last listing of prices I had from them was over five years ago. At that time a base gun listed at £44k (over $60k at the time) plus the cost of a case, accessories, any special engraving and import duties. Surely this pair of specially engraved guns went out the door at something closer to $150k. Now they can be yours now for only $85,000 and a bargain at that!
