Description:
This is a new, unfired W. J. Jeffrey 375 Holland & Holland. It was made in the UK in 2010 when the company was still operating out of London. This Extra Finish, Deluxe 375 features an Exhibition Grade stock, with an exceptionally well marbled root ball butt end and then a perfect transition to straight grain through the hand and forend.
This very special rifle was bench-made for one of the senior managers of the company at the time and was built around a pre-war Mauser action which was then fitted with an entirely new magnum length magazine box. It has a commercial style trigger guard with the magazine release in the trigger guard and a magnum length floor plate.
The barrel is 25" and the rifle weighs 10 lbs, 9 oz with its brand new Zeiss 1.2 - 5X - 36mm scope which is mounted in excellent and totally reliable return-to-zero scope mounts which leave the irons totally unobstructed. It also has a custom made, Model 70 style safety which replaces the original Mauser.
Finished in a traditional Jeffrey, pre-war Deluxe Rifle pattern. The engraving was beautifully executed by David Talent who incorporated just the right amount of gold and also undertook the modest re-shaping of the receiver and the creation of both right and left guard ribbons on the trigger guard. The barrel is boldly engraved with the W. J.Jeffrey name and the receiver is engraved to match the floor plate. The caliber is engraved in gold on the magazine floor plate as is the serial number on the trigger guardThe 30mm" scope rings are also engraved with the makers name, rifle caliber and serial number
The rifle and all of its accessories are presented in a beautiful, exhibition leather case embossed in a crocodile patten with a blank brass center medallion, brass corners. The case is lined in proper Jeffrey Blue baize with a full suite of accessories that accompany the rifle. These include two horn handled turnscrews, a horn handled cleaning rod, and a crocodile embossed, leather cleaning wallet, Jeffrey oil bottle and a leather carrying sling with a non-slip rubber liner on the inside.
Finally, according to the maker, this rifle is an exceptional shooter. The iron's are sighted for Federal 300 grain solids and the scope is currently set for Federal 270 grain boat tails. All-in-all, a perfect set up for Africa, Alaska or anywhere where what you hunt can fight back!
