Description:
This is a very special rifle built by Holland circa 1926, on the immensely strong 1902 Webley single shot action for the fully modern 375 Flanged Magnum cartridge. Built out-of period in 1926, we can surmise it was intended for long distance Himalayan hunting where it's compact dimensions, accuracy and flat shooting powerful cartridge would be a real asset. At some time prior to the Second World War it was fitted with a period German telescope, which we have replaced with a modern Zeiss 6x32 Diatal-C fitted to the original claw bases to make the rifle usable again. And useful it is! The first three shots out of the box (using 75 year old Kynoch ammo) grouped spot on in mabout 1 1/2" (see pictures).

The rifle itself has a 26" barrel and weighs 10 lns 3 oz with the scope and 9 lbs 3 oz without. It's serial number is 1235. The condition is excellent and honest. It has an attractively figured stock with a newly fitted Silvers pad buy no repairs or heavy refinishing, a strong bore with sharp rifling and only slight erosion in the lands. At some point the rifle was professionally re-blued, presumably when the original claw mounted scope was fitted.

Remarkably, it is still housed in its original Holland and Holland canvas case with a full complement of accessories including a period leather scope case, a 375 Flanged snap cap, a period oil bottle and cleaning rod, along with a modern wallet for cleaning implements, etc.

Make no mistake this was a wonderful working rifle and hopefully it will be again. It is priced at $12,500 and begs to get out in the field again.
