Description:
Martin Hagan is one of the finest gunsmiths in the world today. He started his career almost 50 years ago at Ferlach, the famed Austrian gunsmithing school. After graduating he worked for Griffin and Howe for several years as a stocker before returning to Ferlach to obtain his Master degree and to set up his own shop in Germany. During that time and continuing today he has built many rifles for the world renowned firm of Hartmann and Weiss. In the mid-80's Marten immigrated to British Colombia, where he continues to produce some of the finest custom riles available today. I use the word "available" advisably - Marten is always booked up far into the future and his rifles rarely come on the market.

This particular rifle is built on Marten's large size, proprietary single shot action, one of the strongest ever invented. It is chambered for the highly versatile 375 H&H rimless cartridge and almost uniquely is stocked to the muzzle. The barrel is 24" and the rifle weighs just 11 lbs with its German made Zeiss 4-12 X 40 scope and a hair under 9 lbs without it.

Remarkably, the entire octagon barrel with its sights, quarter rib and full length top rib are all carved out of a solid blank of steel - truly a "tour de force" of gun making! The stock (14" X 1 1/2" X 1 3/8") is equally extraordinary. It features exuberantly figured Turkish walnut from muzzle to heel - and don't worry, the Hagen action features a strong thru bolt design. All that beautiful wood is solidly supported by steel. You can just relax and enjoy the beauty of it all. Another special feature of this particular rifle is that a traditional shotgun style safe has been substituted for his less intuitive roller safety.

The rifle and its accessories are all cased in a custom canvas case from Ian Tomlin, one of England's finest case makers. As befits a rifle of this type, the case is outfitted with a full complement of accessories and the whole is now ready to go to the range - or the hunting field.

At $18,000, this rifle is priced at well less than half of its original cost and is available immediately.

This listing is from J. Roberts & Son’s inventory, held in the United States and available for immediate delivery.
