Lock signed “ASHMORE” forward of the hammer. Iron mounts including a very distinctive elongated upper tang and a nicely articulated handmade iron trigger guard. Hand made double set triggers. Old red barn stained maple stock, much faded, with characteristic grease hole and five distinctive cap holes on the belly. Plain butt and nice architectural concave dip above the cheek rest. Ramrod a modern replacement. Good condition for one of these rifles which were heavily used on the farm as well as in the War.
