Description: Francotte Model 25E 10 Gauge SxS 1926 VINTAGE, 32" F/F, LIGHT WEIGHT FIELD GUN, 7LBS. 10OZ General Specs: Francotte, Year 1926, 10 Gauge, 7lbs 10oz, Side-by-Side Serial Number: 84318 Auguste Francotte is world famous as a high quality firearms maker from the gun making center of Leige, Belgium dating back as far as 1805. Still making fine shotguns with price tags starting at $18,000, Francotte is a brand recognized and used by heads of state, business tycoons, and in some cases, the fortunate "Average Joe". Search long and hard, you will not find another Auguste Francotte like this one. We see the Model 25E often enough in 12ga., 16ga., and 20ga. They are nicely built side by sides with a solid reputation for graceful looks and handling characteristics as well as rock solid dependability. But when have you seen a 10ga. field gun meant for field hunts and weighing what most 12 bore guns weigh? This Francotte, sn84318 made in 1926, is a rare gun with 2 7/8” chambers and 32” F/F chokes, nicely stocked with fine French walnut, perfect checkering, full coverage engraving, strong well timed ejectors, just a great looking gun. Why a 10ga you ask? Because of its larger bore diameter a 2 7/8” 10ga. will be much more deadly with a 1 ¼ or 1 3/8oz. load than a 12ga. because it produces a much shorter shot string allowing it to put a much higher number of pellets on a crossing target than the same load in 12 ga. Do the research and you will find the 10ga. load is far superior for ducks, geese, pheasants, or long flushing birds like sharptail grouse, sage hens, and even chukar. Those of you that already know about the hard hitting “short ten”, do let this one get away. It has everything you want in a heavy hitting shotgun. Even turkeys will have to beware!
