Payment Types Accepted: Description: Early, C.1840, American made Bowie knife with "ARKANSAN TOOTHPICK" boldly etched on blade in fancey script letters and also "Manufactured for F.C. Goergen New Oleans" hand engraved in script on the top flat of the blade. Ebony handle with raised diamond shaped panel. Large, thick 10' inch blade - 15" overall. Offered with the Bowie knife are two 1995 Blade magazines with this same exact knife featured in a two part article "THE ARKANSAS TOOTHPICK". F.C. Goergen was listed in New Orleans as a commercial merchant from 1841 until his death in 1849. His first known ad was in the "New Orleans Commercial Bulliten", Friday, Jan. 6, 1837. in which he advertised the sale of "Bowie knives" among his other supplies. From the design of all known Goergen knives, (about ten) it is believed by experts that they were manufactured by Rose of New York City.
