Description:
SOLD***Lefever EE Grade 12ga with 60% case colors and 30" Damascus barrels that have the same serial number as the frame and forend and the barrels are on face. It also features double triggers and ejectors. According to the book, "Uncle Dan LeFever by Robert W. Elliott", out of the roughly 11,000 E grade LeFevers made, most were extractor guns and ejector guns were the exception. The barrels exhibit good pattern and have a delightful appeal. The lettering and engraving is all sharp and clean. The setter engraved on the left side features a fully feathered dog on point and the right side shows an English pointer on point as well. The engraving on the bottom of the receiver is tasteful scroll that only LeFever makes so nicely and the trigger guard has a beautifully engraved setter holding a grouse in his mouth. The stock has a nice reddish recoil pad and it has the factory grip cap. The wood does not have cracks in the stock or forend and the forend has the Bakelite dogs head friction type forend with the modestly engraved metal tip. The gun is in good working order and the ejectors work well. The bores are shiny with some extreamly minor pitting in the left barrel at bottom center. The checkering is not worn very much and is still in very good condition. This gun doesn't have much drop for a gun of this vintage (1899) at 1-1/2" at the comb and 2-1/2" at the heel, which are fairly modern dimensions. The LOP is 14-1/4". Sideplate retaining screw and trigger plate screw are good with only minor widening on the trigger plate slot. Top tang screws are good. The chambers are not quite 2-3/4", more like 2-1/2", and the ribs are sound.
