This shotgun was produced by Remington in 1890. All the serial numbers match on this piece, including the forend iron, wood, buttstock, and barrels. According to Fjestad in the blue book, only nine Grade 4's are known to exist. The barrels feature fine, repeating pattern Damascus steel. The frame features nick and dot border engraving and Arabesque scrolls. The left hammer screw appears to be a replacement. The number "4" is stamped on the water table next to the serial. Both barrels are marked "4" on the underside as well. The highly-figured, American Black Walnut is all-original and never cut, terminating in the original gutta percha, Remington Arms-marked buttplate. The bores are strong with scattered, light pitting, but nothing detrimental to the integrity of the barrels.
