It was issued to the 2nd Cavalry who were stationed at various forts in the Wyoming Territory. This revolver was sent to John Kopec for study and authentication. A detailed letter of his findings is included. The cylinder chambers and bore show traces of the original blue. The forcing cone is not corroded, indicating no sustained firing or improper cleaning. The barrel address is perfect, showing the correct die breaks. The address has the early script style. The gun also features smooth, one-piece walnut grips with a large chunk missing, but leaving a near-perfect "OWA" inspection cartouche. The frame is marked "US". There is a bullseye ejector rod. An Ainsworth "A" appears on the cylinder, trigger guard, top of the backstrap, underside of the barrel, and right grip. A "C" appears in the hammer slot of the frame. All of the hammer notches are perfect. Mechanically, the gun is excellent, but the entire gun has been mildly cleaned, leaving little of the original patina.
