Description:
Engraved and Gold Inlaid J&L Wilkins O/U Three Barrel Set Rifle/Shotgun with Scope and Case. This is a beautiful example of a J&L Wilkins over/under rifle with three sets of barrels. The barrel sets are chambered in 300 Win Magnum, 416 Rigby and 20 gauge shotgun. Each set of barrels comes with an original Certificate of Proof from the Birmingham Gun Barrel Proof House. All three sets are numbered to the gun, have double under lugs and floral scroll engraving at the breech end. One set of rifle barrels is chambered in the very popular 300 Win Magnum and features a ramped front blade sight with light engraving on the top of the ramp and a quarter rib with a fixed open sight and claw mount bases fitted with a Swarovski 3-9x36 scope mounted on casehardened engraved rings. The top of the quarter rib is matte and marked ".300" in gold. The second rifle barrel set is chambered in 416 Rigby with the same features as the other rifle barrels with the exception of the claw mounts. It is marked ".416" in gold on the quarter rib. The third set of barrels is chambered in 20 gauge and has a single brass bead sight on the solid matte rib, 3 inch chambers, choked improved cylinder/cylinder with ejectors. Each set of barrels has the Merkel style three piece walnut forearm with a shared checkered lower piece with lightly engraved casehardened hardware. The rifle barrels are 25 inches in length and the 20 gauge is 26 inches. All three barrel sets also have a sling swivel mounted on the bottom barrel. The scalloped box lock action is casehardened and features a Kersten double cross bolt, floral scroll engraving and marked "J&L WILKINS & CO" on both sides in gold. The blue break lever and trigger guard are floral scroll engraved and the trigger guard is marked in gold "416/300/20". Double triggers, tang mounted safety and mounted on an extra fancy English walnut pistol grip stock with a casehardened, engraved and gold inlaid "R.J.F." grip cap trap, raised cheekpiece, solid recoil pad and a sling swivel. Length of pull is 14 3/4 inches. The rifle weighs 10 pounds with the scoped .300 Win mag barrel set. With an exotic leather case with brass mounting and hunter green lining.
