NORTH CAROLINA DEEP RIVER SCHOOL PERCUSSION HALF STOCK RIFLE CIRCA 1840’S-1850’S. .44 caliber rifled 42” octagon barrel signed in script “L W.” and numbered on the top flat “244”. Typical iron mounted very plain rifle with distinctive features of the Deep River School in both the architecture of the stock as well as the form of the trigger guard and barrel tang. All original and in better than average condition for one of these rifles that saw long and hard use with many still in service during the Great Depression. Original ramrod and set triggers in working order. Dark bore and faint rifling. Scarce North Carolina rifle at a reasonable price.
