VERY FINE CIVIL WAR BURNSIDE RIFLE COMPANY .54 CAL. PERCUSSION 5TH MODEL U.S. CAVALRY CARBINE CIRCA 1863. All original and matching early 5th Model serial numbered in the 15,xxx range. Approximate 90% original blue on the barrel and 50-60% on the breech block. Frame turned to a crisp grey patina. Excellent wood with all the original finish and a mint “HDH” script cartouche for U.S. Army Sub-Inspector Henry D. Hastings. Mint bore and perfect working order.
