Description: An Original New York engraved Smith & Wesson American Model top break revolver, .44 cal., shortened to 6 1/2” barrel, uncleaned patina finish, and the original Walnut grips numbered to this gun... New York style period scroll engraving on the barrel, cylinder, frame and back strap with about 70% coverage. The entire revolver is in untouched natural condition showing the 147 years of age, in color and appearance. Manufactured from 1870 until 1874 with a total production of approximately 32,000 revolvers. This revolver is the Second Model variation of the number 3 American, and was manufactured in the last year of production, 1874. This old hogleg saw heavy use for a exceptionally long time, and in the roughest areas of then the American Southwest Frontier. A beautiful piece of American History. I will sell this one for $4,750.
