Description:
SCARCE M-93 SPORTING CARBINE IN .32 SPECIAL CALIBER, WITH "STAR" ON THE UPPER TANG, MADE C.1920s, Sporting carbines were introduced in 1923 and typically have hard rubber shotgun butt plates, 2/3 magazines, 20" barrels, buckhorn rear sight, and weighed 6 1/2 lbs., this one came out of here in Montana where it no doubt had many adventures! According to the Marlin book by Brophy: "...when a Marlin gun leaves the factory bearing the Marlin star stamped into the metal, it is 'as near perfection as the finest of materials, equipment, and skill can make it' ...The star is usually stamped on the top tang of lever action guns..." fine deep barrel and mag blue showing very light age only, exc. markings including the "Marlin Firearms Corporation" over "Special Smokeless Steel" marking, retains some good case color on the upper portion of the lever and in the most protected areas of the receiver, fine blue on the loading gate, balance of the receiver a pleasing, uncleaned mottled gray/brown where the case color has faded- some still visible but light, butt stock is solid with some outside scuffing probably from riding in a saddle scabbard, fine+ forend, butt plate has one miniscule chip at the outer edge of the toe that is hard to see, bright sharp minty bore, the .32 Special is actually quite scarce on this already scarce model as most were made in .30-30 caliber, tight action, nice screws, these early pre-war carbines are escalating in value rapidly.
