Description:
.45-70, #8057, 30 inch barrel, excellent bright bore, 80% barrel blue with scattered light surface oxidation, mottled plum block and receiver, excellent wood with small chip and crack on right side end of fore arm, Cooper style buck horn barrel sight, Rocky Mt blade front sight, trap in butt, 1st model hammer, slim trigger guard, high arch block, barrel numbered to match receiver.
This style rifle was converted from 1st model 1873 rifles and carbines.  Meacham, Whitney and Hartley & Graham all marketed variations of these rifles.  Traps were added by Army Post Armourers for rods and headless shell extractors after the Custer fight in Montana.
