I assume it was refinished when it went back and also had the lightweight barrel swapped for the 1/2 octagon 24"...no matter it is a super rare combination of options...one of the rarer is the smokeless 38-55!
Lightweight and a short Rifle that is rare...two special order options in the barrel
Bore is very good and had great rifling. Tang, Wood stock and butplate all have matching assembly numbers, .. Looks all original to me guys.
